To Conform to Federal Regulations, all trailers over 80" wide and
over 10,000 pounds GVWR, as well as truck tractor, must wear specific applications of retro-reflective tape or reflex reflectors.
Truck tractor requirements are
1.Rear upper body markings consisting of Exactly 2 pairs of 300mm long strips white in color, located in the upper rear corners of cab facing rearward, as high as practicable excluding fairings.
2.Rear marking consisting of exactly 2 sections of min. 600mm each Red &White in color, Located at rear - facing rearward - on fenders, on mud flap brackets, or within 300mm below the top of mud flaps.(If mud flaps are not used - on the cab or frame mounted brackets) located as horizontal as practicable and not higher than 1525mm from the ground.Trailers over 80" wide and over 10,000 pounds GVWR requirements are
1.Rear upper body markings consisting of exactly 2 pairs of 300mm long strips, white in color, on the rear upper corners facing rearward, located at the top.
2.Bumper bar marking, consisting of a continuous strip of Red/White, located on the rear bumper bar's horizontal element full width - facing rearward, with no height requirement.
3.Rear lower body marking consisting of a continuous strip of Red/White(Reflex reflectors may not be required if they are replaced in their required location with conspicuity treatment),Located on the rear full width of the vehicle facing rearward, As horizontal as practicable to the range of 375mm to 1525mm from the ground.
4.Side Markings consisting of Red/White, located on each side - facing sidewards continuous, or evenly spaced over minimum of 50%of length, Starting and ending as close to the front and rear of the vehicle as possible, As horizontal as practicable and as close to the range of 375mm to 1525mm from the ground.
